CHINESE SUPER LEAGUE CLUB EXCLUDES NEW SIGNING

Dalian Wanda’s investment on new signings at its newly-acquired Chinese Super League football club has left one player excluded after he relocated halfway around the world with his family.

The Chinese conglomerate added hometown club Dalian Yifang to its sports assets late February after selling most of its stake in Atletico Madrid. Dalian Yifang then immediately signed Yannick Carrasco and Nicolas Gaitan from Atletico and Jose Fonte from West Ham United for some 40 million euros just before the Chinese Super League's transfer window closed on February 28th.

Males, 29, moved to China with his wife and daughter after agreeing to a one-year contract with a one-year extension option.

But Dalian Yifang failed to register Males, and has since ordered him to train on his own, and excluded him from football activities, according to lawyers acting for Males. In a letter last week, lawyers for the Croatian player have formally requested that the club respects the terms of Males’ contract. The letter says Dalian Yifang has come up with a “poorly constructed theory” that Males failed a medical test in an effort to avoid fulfilling the contract...
