Playoffs Decided

The last round before the playoffs has been played, delivering the following results:

Ambri - Lausanne 3: 2
Davos - SCL Tigers 6: 2
Friborg - Bern 4: 7
Lugano - ZSC Lions 3: 2 A.E.T.
Servette - Kloten 2: 4
Zug - Biel 4: 3

The playoffs: The last decisions have been made. There were no more shifts after the 50th qualifying round. The playoff quarter-finals, which begin next Saturday, are certain:

Bern (1st) - Biel (8th)
ZSC Lions (2nd) - Lugano (7th)
Zug (3rd) - Servette (6th)
Lausanne (4th) - Davos (5th)

The last round delivered spectacular action. Lugano coach, Greg Ireland, realised that his team needed to win in regular time to avoid ZSC Lions in the early playoff stages. He decided to take out Goalie Elvis Merzlikins 50 seconds before the end of regular time to produce a powerplay of six field players and to try to score the winning goal. However, Lugano was not successful. Lugano only managed to score in extra time which meant that their playoff opponents will definitely be ZSC Lions and not Zug.

The playoffs will begin on Saturday 4th March.
